Plans were laid in cement for SDB Elder Care volunteers to meet at John and Ruth Barber's on March 30, 2008. When they finished work there, the clothesline poles were also laid in cement, upright and ready for the next load of laundry. But that was the last job of the day. Before that, Pastor Michael Spearl, Laura Mirabal, and Rich and Susan Bond put in a small, square patio beneath the Barber's grand shade tree, the perfect base for their freshly painted patio table. At Ruth's request, Laura had picked out the blue for the table top which matched the sidewalk pavers and borders that she (Laura) had painted for her earlier in the month. This really looks good with the trim on the Barber's house. End result? Charming, absolutely charming.
And guys? We girls are impressed with your God-given strength and savvy. As you know, we would have designed a diamond or u-shaped patio---anything to avoid dealing with the imposing and mammoth tree root that you were determined to conquer and did.
